A clinician-designed treatment pathway focused on reducing pigmentation, sun damage and uneven skin tone while restoring a brighter, more even complexion through progressive skin correction. Six appointments that address pigment where it is made — not just where it shows.
Pigment Correction has been developed for skin marked by Queensland sun and the discolouration life leaves behind — from scattered freckling to established sun damage and stubborn uneven tone.
Sun damage
Freckles & age spots
Uneven skin tone
Post-inflammatory pigmentation
Melasma (where clinically appropriate)
Dull complexion
Pigmentation begins with melanocytes — the specialised cells in the skin's basal layer whose job is to manufacture melanin, the pigment that gives skin its colour and its first line of defence against ultraviolet light. In healthy, evenly toned skin, melanocytes distribute pigment uniformly. Discolouration appears when they are pushed into overdrive in some areas and not others.
Ultraviolet exposure is by far the dominant trigger, and nowhere is that more relevant than Brisbane, where UV levels sit in the extreme range for much of the year. Every episode of unprotected exposure signals melanocytes to produce more pigment; over years, some clusters of cells become permanently over-active, producing the sun spots, freckling and mottled tone characteristic of photodamage. Critically, much of this pigment sits invisibly below the surface long before it appears — which is why new spots seem to arrive from nowhere in your thirties and forties.
Not all pigment is sun-made. Post-inflammatory pigmentation follows injury or inflammation — a breakout, an insect bite, an overly aggressive treatment — particularly in deeper skin tones. Melasma is different again: a hormonally sensitised pattern of pigmentation influenced by oestrogen, pregnancy, some contraceptives and heat as well as light, which is why it demands a gentler, more strategic approach than simply blasting it with energy.
Effective correction therefore works on three levels at once: breaking up the excess pigment already deposited, slowing the over-production at its melanocyte source, and protecting the skin so new pigment doesn't simply replace what was cleared. Any approach that does only the first is a temporary fix.
Pigment that took years to accumulate does not clear in one visit. A single treatment can lift a portion of surface pigment, but the over-active melanocytes beneath continue producing — and untreated deeper deposits continue migrating upward. Without repetition and regulation, the complexion gradually returns to where it started.
A structured pathway attacks the problem in layers. Energy-based correction targets established pigment; enzymatic and brightening peels accelerate the turnover that carries fragmented pigment out of the skin; lymphatic therapy supports its clearance; and regenerative stimulation strengthens skin quality so the correction lasts. Each mechanism covers what the others cannot reach.
Timing is equally deliberate. The three-to-four week spacing works with the skin's natural renewal cycle, letting each round of correction clear before the next — keeping progress steady while never overwhelming skin that, by definition, has a tendency to respond to stress with more pigment.
Your program includes six clinician-performed treatments, typically scheduled every 3–4 weeks. The sequence below is a representative journey — your clinician will personalise the order and timing to your skin's response.
Intense pulsed light targets excess melanin directly — pigment absorbs the light energy, fragments, and rises to the surface to be shed over the following days.
A targeted brightening peel suppresses over-active pigment production at its source while accelerating the shedding of freshly fragmented pigment.
A second pass of light-based correction reaches deeper and residual pigment, compounding the clearance of the first treatment.
Enzymatic exfoliation lifts pigmented cells, refines the surface and restores luminosity without compromising the barrier.
Lymphatic stimulation supports the skin’s clearance pathways, reducing inflammation — a key trigger of rebound pigmentation.
Collagen induction strengthens overall skin quality and evens tone, consolidating your brighter, healthier complexion.
Each modality in this series addresses a different stage of the pigment lifecycle. IPL works on pigment that already exists — fragmenting established deposits with light energy. The Bio White and Brightening Enzyme peels work on production and clearance — slowing melanocyte over-activity while speeding the turnover that carries pigment out. Lymphatic therapy manages the inflammatory environment, because inflammation is itself a pigment trigger, and needling finishes the series by strengthening the skin's structure and light reflection.
The order matters. Light-based correction early in the series does the heavy lifting while peels keep the exit route open; calming and regenerative treatments close the series so the skin finishes stronger, not stressed. In pigmentation, a stressed finish is a relapse waiting to happen.
Alongside every appointment sits the non-negotiable: daily broad-spectrum SPF. In Brisbane's UV environment, sun protection is not aftercare — it is half the treatment, and your clinician will build it into your prescribed routine from day one.
Pigment clears progressively across the series, with tone continuing to even in the weeks after each treatment. Individual results vary with pigment depth, type and sun protection habits.
Visible lightening of sun spots, freckling and discrete pigment deposits.
A progressively uniform complexion as scattered discolouration clears.
Restored luminosity as dulling surface pigment and dead cell build-up lift.
Improvement in the mottled tone and texture of photodamaged skin.
Stronger, better-functioning skin that reflects light evenly.
Regulated pigment production that protects your result beyond the series.

Some clients choose to further enhance their results with regenerative additions layered into their series. These are optional enhancements, recommended only where clinically beneficial, and are not included within the Clinical Series investment. Program Members receive 15% off eligible enhancements.
Full-field plasma stimulation to amplify renewal and refine tone further.
Advanced regenerative signalling supporting repair and calm, even skin.
Polynucleotide therapy for deep skin health and resilience.
Light therapy supporting recovery and calming pigment-triggering inflammation.
Ultrasound-assisted delivery of brightening actives deeper into the skin.
Pigment Correction suits sun damage, freckling, age spots, uneven tone and post-inflammatory pigmentation. Melasma is treated where clinically appropriate with a modified, gentler protocol — your clinician assesses your pigment type at your first appointment, and complex presentations may be referred to an Advanced SKYNN Consultation for a fully personalised program.
Six appointments scheduled approximately every three to four weeks — most clients complete their series over four to five months, with tone continuing to even afterward.
Pigment often darkens briefly after IPL before flaking away over five to ten days — a visible but easily managed process. Peels may cause light flaking for a few days; needling involves 24 to 48 hours of redness.
Treated pigment deposits are cleared, but your skin retains its tendency to produce pigment — which is why the series regulates production as well as clearing it, and why daily SPF and a maintenance plan protect your result long-term.
A pigment-inhibiting routine — typically tyrosinase-regulating actives, antioxidants such as vitamin C, and rigorous daily broad-spectrum SPF. Your clinician prescribes your exact routine, with 15% Program Member Pricing on all prescribed skincare.
Many clients see visible lightening after the first IPL treatment as fragmented pigment sheds. Improvement compounds across the series, with the most even, luminous result emerging in the month after your final appointment.
Yes, with disciplined sun protection — though your clinician may adjust settings and sequencing around periods of high sun exposure, and will discuss timing honestly at your assessment.
A bright, even complexion is achieved through consistency and expert guidance — not one off treatments. Begin your Pigment Correction journey, or start with a consultation and let your clinician map the pathway best suited to your skin.
